Science Teacher Workshop

Science Teacher Workshop

Did you know that over one-third of Canada's ag-biotech industry is located in Saskatchewan?

The Science Teacher Workshop is a full-day professional development opportunity for educators to learn more about the fascinating world of ag-biotech in our province. Expand your own understanding of biotechnology so you can confidently answer student questions, easily connect real-life examples to text book examples, and inspire your students to consider a career in biosciences!

This workshop includes:

  • Learning about AITC-SK's free Biotech Kits and how you can incorporate the kit into your classroom either on your own or facilitated by one of our Program Coordinators.
  • Make your own Bacteria Painting art as guided by Program Head of the BioScience Technology Program at Sask Polytech, Blaine Chartrand.
  • Lunch and networking at Taste of Innovation - the official kick off event for Global Biotech Week in Saskatoon! This lunch includes chef stations with live food preparation featuring innovative ingredients.
  • Presentation and tour of labs and greenhouses at the Global Institute for Food Security! Learn all about the latest in sustainable agriculture research.
  • Tour of the Canadian Light Sources Synchrotron! Discover the facility's history, how the technology works and the ground-breaking research that occurs here.
