Acres for Education Campaign

10 Cents Makes Sense

We are challenging farmers in Saskatchewan to donate 10 cents an acre to agriculture education. Consider the cost of inputs you invest into your crops, would adding 10 cents make a significant difference? Likely not. But 10 cents an acre in Saskatchewan classrooms will make a deep and meaningful impact. Our goals:

  • $150,000 helps meet current demand from teachers. Since the pandemic, demand for our hands-on, in-person learning experiences has grown beyond our capacity. Every time we say no to a teacher, we are missing the opportunity for a classroom of students to connect with agriculture.

  • $250,000 takes agriculture education to a new level of impact. But we don’t want to just meet the demand, we want to exceed it. Creating new initiatives will capture even more opportunities throughout a student’s K-12 journey to connect them with agriculture.

  • Every donation will receive a charitable receipt.

  • No acres? No problem. You can still support agricultural experiences by donating however much makes sense to you.

Education For a Strong, Resilient Agriculture Future

The future of agriculture depends on today’s youth. As Grade 12 students graduate and make choices about careers, food, and policies, they will shape the industry. In 5 years, they could be drafting policy or advocating for sustainable practices; in 15 years, today's Grade 2 students will be doing the same. What do you want them to know about agriculture?

Education is key in igniting a passion and interest in agriculture and its impact on our daily lives. By engaging students in agriculture education initiatives, we are:

  • inspiring them to know and care more about our food system,

  • building understanding and support for modern farming practices, and

  • opening their eyes to careers in an exciting and rewarding industry.

In Your Community

Our free initiatives are available for Kindergarten to Grade 12 classrooms across Saskatchewan. In 2023, AITC-SK reached 658 schools in 261 communities. By supporting Acres for Education, you’re not only advancing agricultural programs in your local school but also providing urban students with valuable learning opportunities to connect with agriculture. Was AITC-SK in your community last year? Explore the interactive map below, then click ‘Support AITC-SK’ if we are already in your community or ‘Bring in AITC-SK’ if you want to see agricultural experiences in your community.

Invest in the Future of Your Farm

You have the power to ensure the vitality and success of your farm in the future by investing in the education of youth today. Every donation provides an agricultural experience to a classroom of students, helping to build the pathway to agriculture literacy and a stronger future for us all.

This year, our goal is to get more students out of the classroom to learn about agriculture. Here's the difference your donation will make:

  • Donate 10 cents an acre to send as many classes as possible on field trips to farms or agri-businesses.

  • $250 sends a class to an out-of-school agricultural event.

  • $500 sends a class on a field trip to a farm or agri-business.

  • $1,000 sends a local AND urban class on a field trip to a farm or agri-business.

  • No acres? No problem. Every dollar makes a difference, and you can still support out-of-school experiences by donating however much makes sense to you.
