North - August 16-17, 2022
South - August 23-24, 2022
Are you curious about food and agriculture?
Do you want to learn how to engage students in learning through agriculture education?
The Agriculture Expedition is an action-packed, hands-on agriculture tour for teachers that will motivate you, and provide you with the tools and knowledge, to incorporate agriculture education in to your classroom teachings. You will personally interact with farmers and agriculture personnel at their farms and agri-businesses to understand their role in producing safe, healthy and affordable food in our province. They will share with you how science, research and technology have helped improve the sustainability of their operation, and how they play an important role in keeping Saskatchewan agriculture competitive at a global market. You will be asked to share your experiences on social media, and actively support and engage with AITC-SK throughout the next school year.
Upon registration, you will be invited to share your questions and concerns about food production and agriculture, and we will ensure that they are addressed during the tour by credible, knowledgeable people.
New this year, we are offering two tours that will each be two days with one overnight stay. Be sure to consider which location and dates work best for you, though you may choose both to better your chances of selection.
North tour - begins in Melfort and will include dinner at the sumptuous Mabel Hill restaurant (travel and accommodation from Saskatoon can be arranged).
South tour - begins in Regina and will include stops at Cowessess First Nation and a Hutterite Colony.
Preference will be given to teachers with limited agriculture knowledge and background, as well as demonstrated commitment to become an AITC-SK ambassador in the future.
Only 20 spots available for each tour. Transportation and accommodations included. A $100 refundable deposit will be required to hold your spot should your application be accepted.

"The Ag Expedition is hands down the best PD I have received. Our tour guides and producer/presenters were extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and well-spoken about the broad areas of agriculture involved in this tour. I am very excited to enrich my students learning."
Peter Cowan, 2019 Agriculture Expedition Teacher
