Another successful Cooking Up Saskatchewan (CUSK) Provincial competition is in the books! Students in Food Studies 10 & 30 and Commercial Cooking started with a competition in their own school, with the winning group advancing to the Provincial Competition at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon that took place Saturday, May 5th.
The Provincial Competition included two parts; a culinary presentation where each group prepared a soup, salad, or appetizer and an entrée featuring chicken, and an oral presentation on chicken and how it is a safe food source grown in an ethical manner in Saskatchewan.
Students were evaluated on Safety & Appearance, Food Preparation, Food Presentation and Oral Presentation by judges Chef Steve Driver (Chef Instructor at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Culinary Arts program), D’reen (owner of D’reen’s Catering), and Michael Kautzman (Producer Programs Manager at Chicken Farmer of Saskatchewan).
