2025 Board of Directors Elections
AITC-SK is calling for nominations of candidates to join our Board of Directors.
2025 Election Timeline
If an election is necessary, it will be carried out electronically. Once the election results are finalized, they will be official.
- Applications open – January 13, 2025
- Applications close – February 14, 2025
- Electronic ballot sent via e-mail: February 20, 2025
- Voting period officially closes (Ballots must be received by 4:00 pm) - March 7, 2025
- Candidates notified of results – March 14, 2025
- Board Orientation – March 25, 2025
- Announcement of new board – April 3, 2025 at Virtual AGM
Criteria
All nominees must be an individual member or a member of a member organization that is in good standing.
The annual membership fees are $50 per individual and $100 per organization.
To ensure a highly competent board with a strong mix of skills and experience, we are looking for candidates who can bring the following skills/attributes to the board:
- Strategic Planning – Visionary thinking and goal setting.
- Financial Oversight – Budgeting, fundraising, and fiscal management.
- Governance – Understanding roles, responsibilities, and legal compliance.
- Fundraising and Advocacy – Building networks and securing resources.
- Leadership – Decision-making and team collaboration.
- Diversity and Inclusion – Representing varied perspectives and communities.
- Communication – Clear, effective, and persuasive skills.
- Agricultural Expertise – Knowledge of farming practices, food production, and agriculture education
AITC-SK is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and is seeking candidates who can bring diverse perspectives and lived experiences to the board.
All Board members must believe in the mandate of AITC-SK and have the time to actively participate as directors.
The Board
- The AITC-SK Board can have a minimum of 6 directors and a maximum of 12 directors.
- As per AITC-SK by-laws, the Board of Directors can propose a slate of up to four individuals to the membership for election to the Board of Directors. This can address skill/experience gaps in the current board and nominees from current membership. There are currently three available positions on the slate.
- There are five board director positions available for the general election in 2025.
- One director position is available for a Ministry of Agriculture representative.
- Board terms are two years, and a maximum of four consecutive terms may be held.
- Directors are expected to serve their full two-year term, unless exceptional circumstances arise.
- Nominees may be an individual member or a nominee of a member organization.
- Board meetings are held 5 times per year.
- February – Virtual (half day)
- April – Saskatoon (full-day)
- June – Regina (full-day)
- October – Virtual (half day)
- December – Saskatoon (full-day)
- Board members are expected to participate in a minimum of one sub-committee and dedicate 2-4 hours per month to Board activities, in addition to the Board meetings.
- For individual directors who member organizations do not support, travel costs are covered and an honorarium for meetings is provided.
