In 1994, Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan was founded to bridge the gap between young people and agriculture, a mission still relevant today.

The Foundation for #AgEducation

The first decade laid the groundwork for a dynamic educational initiative that continues to flourish. In its formative years, AITC-SK focused on forging partnerships in the agriculture and education industries and launching its first informative resources and interactive programs. This period involved outreach, advocacy, and the cultivation of a network of supporters passionate about agricultural education, many still involved today. AITC-SK’s commitment to fostering agricultural literacy has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of education in the province.

Our Partners

Our partners play a pivotal role in providing agricultural learning experiences that shape the next generation's understanding of food production, sustainability, and modern farming practices. Every dirty hand, thrill of excitement, and a-ha moment for students is the result of our Partner's support. Without their generosity and commitment, many students would miss out on valuable opportunities to explore, learn, and appreciate the complexities of the agricultural industry. Our partners help us inspire and empower future generations to become informed consumers, environmental stewards, and future leaders in agriculture.

We've invited partners from the past 30 years to share a few words.

Building Transformative Experiences

The second decade built on the foundation laid in the initial years, developing innovative ways to engage students in learning (many that still exist today). By integrating agricultural concepts into education subjects, AITC-SK made learning about agriculture accessible for any teacher, relevant to the curriculum, and exciting for students of all ages. The organization's commitment to experiential learning, coupled with its emphasis on real-world connections, has garnered a meaningful impact and enriched the lives of students. As a result, teacher demand and student reach surged as AITC became the go-to source of agriculture education.

Our Volunteers

Volunteers are critical to the success of AITC-SK. They enable us to extend our reach beyond the capacity of our staff efforts. By sharing their knowledge and experiences, volunteers enrich the learning experience, making it more interactive and meaningful. Volunteers help students build a personal connection to agriculture in their local communities, inspiring students to recognize how agriculture impacts their daily lives and is all around them. We are incredibly grateful for our volunteers. In the past 30 years and now, they bring their passion and dedication to empowering the next generation to become informed and enthusiastic advocates for agriculture.

Building Momentum: Excelling & Achieving Success

The third decade generated remarkable momentum, building off the successes of the prior years. AITC-SK further expanded offerings, creating more opportunities to captivate students' interest and foster meaningful learning experiences both in and out of classrooms. By focusing on building agricultural touchpoints throughout a student’s education journey, AITC-SK is igniting a lifelong curiosity for food. By embracing technology, incorporating real-world examples, and promoting inquiry-based learning, we are empowering students to develop critical thinking and other 21st-century skills while cultivating a deeper understanding of agriculture.
