Apply by October 13, 2017!
A chance for two exceptional students to bring their insights to some of the world’s most important agriculture and food companies and organizations! These two leaders will have the opportunity to provide closing comments after every session, to an audience of over 500 conference delegates at the GrowCanada® 2017 event taking place from November 28 to 30, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta.
GrowCanada® provides a platform to connect with industry leaders from across the country, explore cutting edge insight and build a stronger and more vibrant Canadian agricultural sector.
The theme for GrowCanada® 2017 will be ‘Unleashing agriculture’s potential’. Canada is already the fifth largest exporter of agriculture and agri-food, and has the capacity and desire to grow this sector of its economy. This year’s conference will focus on seizing the momentum in agriculture to unleash its potential to be an even greater producer of food for the world.
Who is eligible?: Confident and enthusiastic students in Grade 11 or 12, or students who are studying at an agricultural college or university are welcome to apply for this opportunity. They are looking for someone who can clearly articulate their views and would be interested in challenging the delegates of this conference.
Canadian Seed Trade Association will cover the conference registration, cost of travel to Calgary and accommodation at the Hyatt Regency Calgary for the two winners and their chaperones (if applicable).
How to enter: Students with an interest in this opportunity are invited to submit a 500-word (maximum) essay, or video essay, which answers the following question:
In today’s society, many have lost connection to the farmer who grows their food and they are largely unfamiliar with how it’s grown. Given those circumstances, what do we have to do to maintain public trust and social license among Canada’s diverse and predominantly urban and suburban population?
Applications are to be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org before Friday, October 13, 2017. Successful applicants will be contacted for a phone interview in late October.
